Group Du Jour - Wonderful Vision EP

$15.00

“Wonderful Vision” - the first vinyl release by Portland outfit “Group Du Jour” featuring Daniel Crommie, Bo Parker, and Paul Parker - has been something of a local enigma over the past decade in the Portland music collector & DJ world. Released to local fanfare in 1987 on the band’s own “New Weave Records” - Group Du Jour’s wonderfully programmed, delightful & humorous new wave efforts wouldn’t sound out of place on I.R.S. Records or other popular new wave music labels of its time.

Over the last decade, however, one particular track caught our attention - “Motion of Waves”, hidden at the end of the record’s first side. A beautiful long-form, left-field piece featuring airy flute and dreamy vocals weaving in and out of canned drum machine, shimmering guitar, and gorgeous synthesizer textures - taking inspiration both from the band’s new wave sensibilities as much as member Daniel Crommie’s solo excursions into ambient and experimental sounds. The result is a stunning 7 minute piece perfectly suited for the discerning dance floor, in the style of cuts on Music From Memory’s “Outro Tempo” and other balearic retrospective music collections.

We are glad to offer a piece of Portland’s musical history - vintage vinyl copies of Group du Jour’s “Wonderful Vision” including “Motion Of Waves”!
