Marios Visvikis – Music For Jaw Harp 10" LP
We are delighted to share that Athens-based composer and instrument maker Marios Visvikis has kindly sent us the remaining artist copies of "Music For Jaw Harp" - his gorgeous self-released debut album from 2015. The multi instrumental "Music For Jaw Harp" features the sounds of the jaw harp, kou xiang, doromb, maultrommel, marimba, metallophone, singing bowls, bells, kalimba, and clave - played alongside a small collection of synthesizers and drum machine. "Music For Jaw Harp" has been on repeat here at the tone poem HQ, with its singular blend of traditional folk sounds and layered jaw harp textures, minimalist mindfulness, and electronic experimentation highlighting the collaborative nature of the titular instrument. Reminding us a little of Midori Takada’s Mkwaju Ensemble, Nyssa Musique, or the works of Terry Riley - we are grateful to share the remaining copies of this limited, self-released, and hand-numbered vinyl on Marios’s own Amola Kalimba label.
